Financial autonomy is quite important to everyone, isn’t it? We believe everyone has the right to it, and that includes our employees. That is why we ensure we credit Adaaya’s employees’ salaries into their own accounts, and never their partners’ accounts. When the employees, mainly women, receive their salaries, they know the work they put into earning it. As a result, they don’t squander it away. Instead, they save it up for the future, or spend it on their children’s education. This is Adaaya’s mission—the empowerment of women, and of society!

How safe do you feel at work? Here at Adaaya, we take employee safety very seriously. In fact, our factory’s location keeps the employees safe. With almost the whole workforce comprised of women, it is extremely important that their security is seen to. The factory is located in an industrial area with no unsafe areas. Everyone constantly has someone watching their backs for them and the women are kept safe. Workplace culture is an integral part of women’s safety, and at Adaaya, we strive to inculcate it in all our employees so there are never any untoward incidents. We hope that someday, we won’t have to worry about women’s safety so much!

They are now able to afford a good education for their children. Every successful company has an origin story worth telling, and Adaaya is no different. One day, Adaaya’s founder Roli happened to read an article about how a large retail chain was looking to sell eco-friendly tableware. Her entrepreneurial mind-set and an interest in sustainable living meant the opportunity was right up her alley.  Growing up, Roli’s husband T. Harsh had seen palm leaves being used in traditional Indian applications, and he knew this was the perfect answer to the problem. One feasibility check later, he had confirmed it was a viable business idea. Then Harsh joined Roli as a partner, and together they started Adaaya’s journey in 2014.
